The Fealofani Samoa Bowling League (FSBL) has always been my 'main' league. I've played in it the longest of any league (4 years) and if there was ever a league I wanted to do well in, this was it.
My wife, Rach, and I were first-time league officers. Between doing all the things a league president and secretary do, we managed to sweep all 3 rounds to win our first league championship.
What a difference a year makes. Last season our team finished in last place but that was before we inserted our 9-year old son, Maddy, into the lineup. Maddy started off slow but improved each and every week, winning the most improved player award (+40) and provided the punch we needed in the 2-spot.
Personally, I failed to achieve my goal of booking 200, settling for a 198 instead, thanks to some terrible bowling late in the season. Still, that translates into an improvement of 12 pins from last season (186) which isn't too shabby, I suppose.
Here's a comparison of my numbers from last season (in brackets) to this season's.
Average: 198 (186)
200 games: 45 (30)
600 series: 13 (8)
High/Low game: 265/136 (247/119)
High/Low series: 688/515 (646/446)
From a personal standpoint, I'm a little disappointed that I didn't meet a couple of my goals this season but we won and as they say, winning cures all.
Mazel tov! (Nice pic, too!)
ReplyDeleteI hope I can get improve next year in a similar fashion. I'm really disappointed in my performance on Tuesday night this year.
Thanks, EB.
DeleteMy swing kinda fell apart late in the season but like you, I'm looking forward to a better 2012-13 season.
A 12 pin improvement in one year is pretty amazing. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Zach. I got lucky this season. Stay tuned for the 12 pin regression next year!
