| 16th place? Oh my. |
Our Thursday team started the season with some lofty expectations but wasn't able to get off the ground thanks to some pretty ordinary bowling over the course of the long season.
We had the 2nd highest team average (and thus the 2nd lowest team handicap) so we looked good on paper but that was about the only place we looked good.
We didn't do too poorly in the first half, finishing in 4th place but lost the plot in the 2nd half, finishing in 19th place for a combined finish of 16th place (I don't know how that worked out).
I won't make any excuses here, we didn't perform well enough to place any higher. Having high averages is nice but if you don't at least bowl to your average on a given week, you're most likely going to lose. The 95% of 220 handicap system that the DOT Good Times league utilized didn't help our cause either.
On a personal note, I was pretty consistent in this league, nothing too high and nothing too low. Here are my stats for Thursday nights:
Book average: 205
200s: 46
600s: 16
700s: 1
High/Low game: 259/152
High/Low series: 700/561
I kinda ran out of steam late in the season, probably the effect of bowling in 4 leagues a week. Note to self: please don't do that again. Four leagues a week was too much, I went for quantity and the quality suffered. I think I'll stick to three leagues next fall, no more winter leagues!

Nooooooo! You have to come back to Ball and Chain! We like you!
ReplyDeleteThis will be our last season with the Ball & Chain but we've enjoyed meeting and playing with y'all. You and Kisu should join a fall league, you're ready!
DeleteYeah, yeah, we'll see you in January. ;)
DeleteAs for a fall league, I'm taking a grad class and a sewing class and teaching in a new grade this fall, so I think that's out!
