Just like last week, Team Norfolk & Chance had a slow start but recovered in time to split 2-2.
We were 276 pins in the hole before the start of each game which meant we had to be on our games to have any chance of taking any points.
We weren't up to the task in the first, only Simon made his average and we lost by 87 pins. We won the 2nd by 9 pins behind a nice 214 from Nigel and the 3rd by 34 pins to salvage the draw and gain 2 points on the league leaders who got swept by the #2 team. Things are getting close at the top of the standings.
With two weeks remaining in the season, we're in 3rd place and have a shot at taking the title but we're going to need some help from the 2 teams above us in the standings.
On a personal note, I was badly out of rhythm in the 1st game, missing a 10-pin and a 4-pin (!). In the 2nd game I had a flat pocket hit in the 8th frame that resulted in a 8-10 split. I went to a ball change to start the 3rd and put together a 7-bagger to close with a 259.
I was pulling the ball in the 2nd game because my right shoulder was dropping too far on release. I tried to stand a little taller in the 3rd game which fixed the problem. I can't figure out why my bowling skill seems to come and go from week to week. There are days when I step up to bowl and feel like I have no idea what I should do.
It's been a long season and mental fatigue is a factor but it's something everyone is dealing with. I need to step it up over the next 2 weeks and try not to let my teammates down, like I have been doing over the last 3 weeks.
Just bowl better!
