Last night was one of those nights where all four of us made average but we lost 3-4 anyway.
Normally I'd rant about how unlucky we were but after taking a closer look at how we did in each game, I can see how we lost 2 out of the 3 games.
Basically, it isn't enough to have an average series. After all, a series score only helps towards a single point (overall pins).
Only Gil made average in all 3 games, which was pretty impressive since he hadn't touched a bowling ball in over 2 weeks. I temporarily moved myself into the anchor spot and put Gil at lead off since I thought he'd be a bit rusty. He ended up with a 642 and didn't waste any time asking for his anchor spot back.
On a personal note, I picked up a 4-7-10 split in the first game and chopped the 3-6-10 by picking off just the 6-pin, something I've never seen or done before. I used the Defiant for two thirds of the night then switched to the Hell Raiser when it started coming in high.
I continue to struggle on Thursday nights, I can't figure out why.
Rach and I will be pre-bowling for next week, right after our match tonight. We have a wedding to go to and won't be able to bowl next Friday. I hope to bring my Friday night average back to a 200 or better. No excuses, just bowl better!
