A Win is a Win is a Win

Our new look Thursday team ground out another gutsy 4-3 win over one of the better teams in the league tonight.

None of us had our best stuff but we rolled strikes and converted spares when we needed to. An ugly win is still a win and we'll take a win like this any day of the week.

Gil struck out from the 9th frame of the last game to seal a 5 pin win. Had he not done so, we would have lost 2-5. It was real nice to see Gil break out of his slump.

I, on the other hand, wasn't much help tonight. I stuck to my game plan of starting with my baseline ball, the DV8 Hell Raiser, and bowled pretty much the entire night with it. The Defiant went through the face on the few occasions I used it so it was relegated to the bench early on in the evening and there it stayed. As much as I love rolling that ball, it is simply too strong for light to medium oil conditions.

I missed the 10 pin twice, which was disconcerting, but not altogether unexpected. I wasn't able to practice this week like I wanted to so I have no one to blame but myself.

I hope to bounce back from last Friday's disaster (525) tomorrow night. The goal, as always, is to hit my AVG+1 of 601 or better. With the way I've been bowling lately, I wouldn't put money on it but you never know, I could get lucky!

  1. Last night was a gritty team win. Good final game Matt. Way to hang in there with not your best stuff and a bad foot. The look on Rob's face in the 10th frame after my second strike was priceless. LOL

    1. He did the math beforehand and knew you needed to get the first 2 strikes in the 10th to shut them out. Nice closeout, sir.

  2. Good bowling, sir. Smart move not putting the Defiant onto conditions it would destroy.
