I've had 3 successive sub-600 series and my confidence going into tonight's league is at an all time low.
I can't blame the ball or the lane conditions. I seem to go through these lulls during a season where I throw a few low games, get out of tempo then lose my confidence which only compounds the issue even more.
Tonight will be a good test to see if I have what it takes to will myself out of a slump.
Last night, I was awful but thanks to my wife and son, our team pulled out a 3-1 win to keep us in first place for another week.
The Defiant was too strong for the lanes we bowled on last night but I persisted with it anyway. I'm going to make a concerted effort not to do the same thing tonight. Can I be less of a moron on the lanes? I hope so but I wouldn't put money on it.
You can't fix stupid, I heard tell... But there ought to be a pill for it!
ReplyDeleteIt's bowling, brother. You'll weather the storm.
Thanks for the encouragement, EB.
DeleteWith such long seasons its no surprise that a few bad series will sneak in. I'm in the same sort of slump right now, but hoping to pull out of mine soon. You will be fine, you have all the pieces, its just the matter of putting those pieces together.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you're right. A few bad games will probably force us to refocus in on what we need to be doing better. No need to panic yet!
DeleteIt's hard to make those changes with the ball, but sometimes what you have just won't work and you end up screwing with your form to correct what the ball is doing (or overdoing). As much as I love my Defiant, that thing isn't for every condition. It's too aggressive a lot of time. If you're using the wrong ball, doesn't matter how good you're throwing it... Change that baby first before you question yourself. Don't be afraid to go with a weak(er) ball. Either that or start cheating, taking PEDs, and hire someone to hide out in the pinsetter and knock over pins...
ReplyDeleteGood advice. I'm gonna start off with my Hell Raiser then move up (Defiant) or down (VG Nano) from there depending on how the lanes are playing. Makes total sense but logic tends to fly out the window once I get to the lanes lol
DeleteAin't that the truth. Logic is quickly replaced by emotion once you hear the sound of smashing pins...
